I mean “so shy I couldn’t speak.” So, while I had known him since first grade, I still couldn’t bring myself to talk with him the way I wanted… so I mustered my most artistic abilities and did the next best thing. If you knew how long it takes me to pick out just the right song for each class, you would never wonder why it takes me so long to put out a class. #alltheprettysounds
NEW YouTube Tutorial 🎉 In this quick tutorial, you can learn how to make your own, custom Canva frames using Affinity Designer. Canva frames are super handy shapes that allow you to pop pictures and videos in to them over and over and they not only take on the shape of the frame, they also resize to fit the frame. They make creating things like social media templates and other things super simple. In this video, I will show you how you can make custom shapes in Affinity Designer and set them up so Canva recognizes them as a frame. Find the link in my bio.
NEW YouTube Tutorial! 📣 Learn how to create a realistic iPad mockup, complete with custom frames, in Canva.
When Joe & I did art festivals, the producers always put our tents next to one another, even before we were dating. From day 1, our relationship was built, in part, on a love of art. Shows are no longer a part of our lives but now we get to share art another way. Joe just published his first @skillshare class as part of their Winter Teach Challenge! (So now the cats get to interrupt two of us when we are recording!) Joe (@smiggyink) has a BA in Fine Art Education and taught school for several years before becoming a full time artist. Now he has come full circle to teach and I’m so happy we get to do it together. Check out Joe’s first class, all about harnessing the “Doodle Mindset” to make your line art more intuitive. Find the link in his bio and, for the next 24 hours, in my Story!
NEW TUTORIAL ‼️ Looking for a quick and easy way to access thousands of special characters and symbols built in to your decorative fonts? My new YouTube tutorial on using the glyph browser in Affinity Designer has got you covered! 🌟💫 Find it at the link in my bio (you can’t miss it 😉)
Recording day… several new YouTube tutorials, including some Affinity Designer tuts, coming your way over the next few days! You can find a link to my YouTube channel in my profile.
GIVEAWAY ALERT! So next week is my birthday, and it’s a big one… 50. I am pretty sure I jumped in to a time warp at some point, but that’s a post for another day. THIS post is about your chance to win a free year of Skillshare in my birthday giveaway between now and March 31st. (Because I have everything I need so I want to give you something instead :))
Today in the studio… this lovely gets hand mounted on a 16x16 inch panel and sent off to a new home. (and serves as a reminder that my favorite flowering trees to photograph will be blooming here in the not so distant future. 🌸)
NEW TUTORIAL: Hey everyone! I have a new tutorial up on the blog. Learn how to make your own, seamless marble texture using Affinity Photo. In the tutorial, I'll show you how to use Perlin Noise, the Affine Filter, Pattern Layer and more! You can find a link in my bio!
Scripts, scripts and more scripts. I am spending today finalizing the scripts for three new YouTube tutorials, and three new classes. I try to do as much as I can, up front, to get ready for filming. Not only does it make it go more smoothly, it means I can get multiple tuts and classes filmed at a time. Which of course means more to put out in to the world. Stay tuned!
A sampling of the reviews, so far, for “Beginner’s Guide to Affinity Designer iPad | Export Persona,” my latest class on @skillshare. I’ll admit, I was a bit scared to release a class that was so technically focused but, based on the feedback so far, I am so glad I did!
NEW YOUTUBE TUTORIAL! Did you notice some brushes didn’t make the cut in V2 of Affinity Designer? No worries! If you still have V1 on your iPad (or desktop) you can easily export a collection of your favorite brushes and import them in to V2. In this super quick YouTube tutorial, I’ll show you how! Find the link in my bio.
