Creating a mock-up to plan out my large gallery wall in my office. I have a tendency of playing “woodpecker” when hanging things, so this time, instead of ending up with 1,000 unnecessary holes until I get it right, I’m pre-planning. This is the final step in my office/studio/recording space re-do. Continuing work on redoing my office/studio/recording space. Today is all about sewing. I had found leaf and feather fabric that I loved but had no idea what I wanted to use it for. I decided to reupholster a found footstool that had seen way better days and make a pillow for my chair. It’s going to make a nice reading/drawing spot… provided I can take it back from the cats. 🙄
I had a secret… a deep, dark secret that even my husband didn’t know the extent of. I…had a Monica closet. (If you watched “Friends” you know the reference;)) When we moved in two and a half years ago, despite the fact that I absolutely love organization, I literally threw a ton of stuff in my office closet, shut the door and tried to ignore the fact that every time I opened it, something fell out. So, as I am revamping my office space for recording new Skillshare classes, YouTube tutorials and (coming soon) YT/Insta live streams, I decided there was no better time to ditch the mess. My amazing husband, @joesmigielski put more shelves up for me and now all my video and photography equipment is organized and I can find anything at a glance. Bonus… I got to move our clunky laser printer in to the closet on this weird unused space created by our stairwell. Bigger bonus…I don’t have an avalanche of stuff falling out at me now and the space feels peaceful. NEW CLASS ALERT 🎉 well it’s about three days (and three months) later than I had planned to post it but, “Flat to Fabulous Vectors in Affinity Designer” is now live on my Skillshare channel! Want to create some Scandi inspired felt ornament illustrations? Join me and learn four ways I add texture and effects to my flat vector work to give it a more realistic feel. I’m using the iPad version of the app but you can follow along in the desktop version if you know where the tools are located. Multi tasking today… loading the new class and creating some laser engraved and cut cork fabric key fobs on the @glowforge . There is something satisfying about having everything line up the way it is supposed to and pounding that rivet in to place. The design was created by me in Affinity Designer.
It’s almost done! Here is another timelapse sneak peek! This is one of five Scandi inspired felt ornament illustrations we will be creating in my latest @skillshare class being released this weekend. I’ll be showing you four ways to effectively and efficiently add texture to your flat vectors to make them look less flat and more fabulous! I created a full vector brush set, a felt pixel brush an assets pack and a set of 30+ high resolution seamless felt textures just for the class. Can’t wait to see you there! The Chelsea Hotel (typically known as just “The Chelsea”) has been home to everyone from Mark Twain and O Henry to Janis Joplin and Leonard Cohen. Now, my image of The Chelsea is headed off to a new home of its own in a beautiful, bright 16x20 archival Lustre print. Thank you John for adding my work to your own space. Heading off to a new home today… a 12x12 archival Lustre print of my jellyfish photograph, “The Dance.” This particular shoot will forever remain in my memory as one of the most calming and one of my favorites. I hope this image brings as much calm and joy to Anne’s home as I experienced photographing it. Find this, and all of my jellies and other nature photography on my site at the link in my bio.
